For anyone who is a photographer, you will need to know??

Photography and filmmaking might be highly-priced hobbies never ever mind in the event you essentially intend to produce a living at it so do your analysis and do not go crazy getting gear you do not need. Now that I have the rig I'm substantially happier and creatively inspired to attempt new factors but that is currently tempered with thoughts of "Hmm... I definitely want a better tripod..." Given the complications I had attempting to see what I was shooting on the Canon's tiny, blown-out-by-the-sun LCD screen I consider what I truly need is an onboard monitor. Time to start saving the pennies...!

This was the first time I was able to seriously put my new DSLR rig via it's paces. This goes back to what I was talking about within the last post about the need for stability when shooting and how 1 requirements to expand the camera into a thing closer towards the type element of a regular video/film camera.

So we packed up the Glidecam HD 2000 and headed over for the tiny dock jutting out across the water. A absolutely beautiful place but unfortunately it was so bright and sunny I could barely see the LCD viewfinder of your camera. Winging it and hoping for the best (thank goodness for all those excellent concentrate marks on the Takumar lenses!), Melanie sat down on the edge on the dock and gazed wistfully out across the water while I fiddled around within the background like a superb ole camera geek.

This can be what I applied to shoot Twinkle, Twinkle with and it was okay but just wasn't adjustable adequate and did not really feel strong enough (these creaking plastic sounds are terrifying once you have $1,500 worth of camera relying on it is grip!). Also, getting a former IATSE camera assistant I've been spoiled using the high-end gear plus the concept of running about having a low-priced plastic rig named immediately after a cowhand just wasn't attractive to me...

So why is this a lot far better than the poor old Cowboy who's been forced to hang up his creaky, plastic boots? Well, for 1 point it's incredibly powerful and made absolutely out of machined metal parts so no more unsettling flexes or rattled nerves when bolting the camera to it. Secondly, it is very adjustable into a lot of different configurations depending on the requirements on the shot whether or not it really is mounted on a tripod or becoming used hand-held. Finally, it is based off of a standardized 15mm rod technique which means there are plenty of, numerous other accessories that I can expand the rig with including a adhere to focus, matte box, onboard monitor, microphone, and so on.

The shoulder pad assembly is surprisingly comfy, can also be adjustable and may be expanded to take a battery accessory pack should really you require energy for extra accessories. A large challenge with DSLRs when shooting video with rigs like this is they usually be somewhat front heavy so I may possibly at some point choose up a counterweight that I can attach for the back in the shoulder pad. This is likely the least expensive possibility accessible.

Finishing the rig is this wonderful set of handgrips that, like the rest in the rig, can also be very configurable, sturdy and pretty properly created. It really is also super comfy to hold and in contrast to the affordable handgrips which might be available, does not leave your hands stained or covered in tiny flecks of rubber.
